Transmission flush
I was wondering if its a good idea to drain out the transmission fluid and change it, some people are telling me since the car has 102,000 if i change it, the transmission will start slipping. you are the camaro people so what do you think, and experiences.
It depends whether the fluid was changed at regular intervals or not. If it was never changed, it is probably best to leave it alone. If it was changed per manufacturer's schedule, it is best to keep doing it, as it will keep the transmission working properly. I had transmission go over 200K with regular fluid and filter changes, and never had any problems. I don't particularly like machine flushing, as in many cases a generic fluid is used instead of the recommended type.
Yes they should. You don't need the personal info of the previous owner, just the service history of the car. They will tell you that much. It's up to you whether to just do a pan drop, or get a transfusion. I prefer a transfusion since about less than half of whats in the whole trans and converter gets changed with a pan drop.
If you want to call it "machine" flush. The inlet and outlet fluid coolant lines are tapped into. The inlet line on the trans is connected to a reservoir of new fluid, and the outlet line goes to another catch reservoir. Then the engine is run, and the transmissions own pump does the transferring (transfusion...in with the new, out with the old). The only "machine" that's involved, is the piece of equipment that the reservoirs are part of, which meters the proper amount of fluid transfer based on your transmissions entire capacity.

went by a dealer and at the service desk was a real mean old goat, told me there was no way to pull up service records , and that only the dealership where the service was done will have records.. i soo wanted to run the z28 into that desk...
Based on that, I figured you would be going to the same dealer that the p.o. took it to. I know warranty "recall" work is on a GM database that can be accessed by any dealer. I've had it done. But yeah, normal maintenance work done at a dealer would be in their own records that another dealer wouldn't have access to.
