Default Coolant Flush help

I'm trying to do a full coolant flush, and I can't find the block coolant drain plugs. I can't find anything with a picture showing where they are on this car.

One of my friends said I could flush it out without pulling those plugs by disconnecting the upper radiator hose with the engine running and keeping a steady flow of water in the radiator with a garden hose. He said to do this until the water flowing out of the upper radiator hose was clear.

I tried this for a few minutes, but there wasn't much (if any) water flowing out of the hose, only the hole in the radiator where the hose was supposed to be. I was scared I would damage the engine, so I shut it off.

Is this a valid procedure for flushing the coolant system? Has anyone ever tried it like this?
