Default Tranny swap questions

Hello fellow Camaro peoples, i have a question for you. I have a 97 Camaro with the 3.8L V6. Transmission is on its way out. My question for you is will a 4l60E from a 97 suburban fit. The "new" Tranny has been rebuilt by Jasper and has about 20k miles on it. As far as my research has led me to belive, as long as the case and bellhousing are one unit it shold bolt up to my car. But, sense I am no expert on the subject, I figured I would ask here before attempting this little project of mine.

V6 and V8 have different bell housing bolt patterns,,, Camaro have a different tail house then any other car. 3800 used to have V8 bell housing pattern but when they redesigned it in 95 to make it the SII they put the V6 style bolt pattern on it so they could also use it in FWD cars.

As far as the tails go i thought they were swappable. My tranny and the new one both have the same tail bolt pattern. But if the bell housing bolts are different I guess it's a no go then. Damn, It's so hard to find transmission's for this car. I guess I'll be rebuilding it my self or finding a shop to do it cheap.

You want to find a guy the rebuilds them for a living but does it on the side at home. You remove it and he rebuilds it. First time builder without the correct tools has a very low chance of
it coming out right. Unless the point is learning,,,,

well as much as I'd love to learn, and if I had a second working tranny, I'd be ripping mine apart. As far as finding people who do it on the side I know nobody. I called a local shop and they send the trannys off to a third party to be rebuilt, they told me that most of the cost comes from them ripping it out of my car and then reinstalling it. Which I would do my self. Though they have yet to get back to me on the price of the rebuild. Any chance you could give me a rough estimate on a rebuild. I live in Western New York if makes any difference. Only quotes I've got have been 2000 for a remanded one, or 1200 from a chain shop. Which are pretty well out of what I have to spend.

A master kit will be $300 ish and You can normal find someone that will rebuild it for $350-400 Labor.

Another option is to look around for a car being parted out or needs an engine. Here is one I found local to me.
https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/6080981397.html

Part out whats left and I would bet you could get at least $300 for the front clip.
