Torsion Posi?
I picked one of the up tonight from a 2000 Camaro. I am putting it in a 81 gbody with a set of 28 spline moser axels. I did one on a buick regal years ago and ran it hard for a few years every weekend at the track. Has anyone run a number of 1.70-1.80 60fts and had these hold together on a set of DR or slicks?
Not sure why you'd find a rear from a fourth gen F-body. The rears in these are weak compared to what came in the G-body stock. These are only 7.5in ring gears compared to the G-body stock 8.5in.
You can build it up with heavier axles and girdle, but with slicks and any amount of decent power, and it will still break. There are people that broke them on stock LT/LS engines while there are those that run them all day long on modified ones.

All of the GBodys came with the 7.5 ONLY the olds 442 and the Grand Nationals came with the 8.5. Their are only a few of those out their, I have the 8.5 in my 90 GMC with the 30 spline axels. When I decide to put more power in the 60 ft I will change to the Abody 8.5 Just a little wider and a upper control arm upgrade.
I thought all G-bodies came with the 8.5. That is my bad. Regardless, I still wouldn't use a F body 7.5. Curious how you are going to mount the upper control arms since the F bodies don't have the ears for it?
I am only using the posi with a set of 28 spline axels for mosor, not the complete Camaro housing. The housing looks like some one spent a lot of time beefing it up with the welded axel tubes and the other bracing.
Aw, I see. Thought for some reason you were using the whole housing. They can beefed up a little, but 400 plus horse or clutch dumps break them fast. Hah. If you are going to attempt to beef it up, 30 spline axles and an aftermarket carrier would suit you better. A girdle would help too.
