Top end question on a lt1

RE: Top end question on a lt1
x3 actually...
You're going to be a lot better off with a cam that is matched to your heads. If you're looking at having your stock heads worked over check out www.totalengineairflow.com they get some great numbers out of stock LT1 cores. The Hotcam is pretty mild, as others have stated, you'll make more power than stock, but it's not really worth the money that you'll spend on it. Having your heads ported out to "LT4 specs" is a waste of money as well. If you're going to have the stock heads worked over you can get much better numbers than LT4 numbers. The intake isn't something that you need to worry about, the only difference between the LT1 and the LT4 intake is the color and the intake ports on the LT4 intake are 0.10" taller to accommodate the LT4 heads. You'll be better off getting your intake port matched to whatever heads you choose to go with and then getting the front ported out so you can run a 58mm TB (if you're shooting for 450HP). By the way, getting 450 RWHP out of a 350 CID LT1 isn't an easy task...

I think ill get the 185cc port head set, Im wondering if i should also get the valvetrain set for another 700+$ or put togeather my own for it, any ideas? 700 seems pretty steep for lifters pushrods and rollers.
