Default Tire Sizes Screwing with Brakes...

Ok so when I had my V6 and had just bought my wheels I had 245-35's up front and 275-40's in back, it seemed when I got them my brakes would be hard to push with a grinding feeling in the pedal over lets say 40-45mph, once I'd drop below that speed in a decel you could feel the pedal soften to the way it should be, now that I have worn out those tires and have 275-40's on all four corners they're fine. It was to the point before to where it was almost dangerous if you were traveling at higher speeds and needed to slam on the brakes... you wouldnt get anywhere quick. Also, occasionally my "LOW TRAC" light would come on just beebopping down the road at a steady speed requiring me to turn off the ASR until the next start up.

My question is, is there anyway around this? I like the looks of smaller tires up front and would like to go back but I dont want to sacrefice the safety of me or the car as far as braking power for looks.

Get 245/45 up front, and you shouldn't have a problem with the low trac light... I believe if the computer sees a big mismatch between front and rear wheel speeds, it turns on that light. With the wheel/tire combo you listed at first there is a two inch height difference between the rear and front. Front would spin faster than the back, thus giving the low trac light. As for your brake problems, I'm unsure.

It's like its screwing with the ABS because of the difference in the front/rear tire speeds...

Any ideas on how to correct that and still keep the off tire sizes?

..besides pulling the ABS fuse? Now that I recall I had done that in the past and it fixed the problem but I put it back in when it snowed. I didnt like not having ABS

Be sure to check your struts & shocks -- they can also greatly affect the way your brakes work, or don't work well...

Obviously you haven't read the posts...

Slick6, I don't know of any way to make it work with the previous tires you had. Well, other thandisabling the ABS.

Yeah, and like I said when I pulled the ABS fuse they were fine with the different tire sizes. But I am particular about having everything working correctly lol. Sounds like if I want it my may I will need to go inside the computer, which is a HEEELLLLLLLLLLLL NOOOOOOOOOO!!!
