did you remove that one bracket on the driver's side?

ya i figured out the waterpump it was those 2 sneaky bolts on the side now i gotta run to walmart and hope they have a 22mm socket for the crank pulley (i think its 22 im gunna get a 23 and a 24 too just incase) pics will come maybe tonight if not tomorrow

what do you need to wrench on the crank pulley for? I didn't have to when I removed my water pump. Do you need to remove that to get the opti off?

Yes. You need to remove the pulley to get the opti off. Replacing the opti is a pretty involved job.

Congrats on the new car. That is always exciting even if it does not run. Have you checked for spark before tearing into the car? Also how about fuel pressure? Does that year have the fuel relay bypass wire?

yea its in the way

it doesnt seem like its gunna be too bad id say ive only been working for about an hr and all i have left to do is get the crank pulley off

thanx massey im very excited... yes i checked for spark (which was a major biatch now i know why you guys complain about the plugs) i didnt check fuel pressure but i can hear the pump prime and i can also hear the rail filling up (the car sat for over a year)

now i just need to rent a 3jaw to get the pulley off shes on there good



ohhhhhh and pics tomorrow

You shouldn't have to. The lower pulley is a snug fit...from years of crud and rust, it's not a press fit. I rapped mine off with a block of wood and hammer from the back side under the car, working back and forth, left side-right side. Once the pulley is off, and you clean off all the rust that's on it and the hub, it'll slip right back on with no force.
