One trick I tell my customers when they come to buy a cap and rotor for the LT1. Buy the Richporter new opti (comes with Cap and rotor) and has a lifetime warranty. This warranty covers it even if the water pump causes the failure, and when it is time for a new cap and rotor bring the opti back and say it is not working (we cant test it) and get a new one (with new cap and rotor) for free. The cap and rotor for the opti units are over $200 the new dizzy is like $250. Cap and rotor do not have a warranty but the dizzy does... See where I am going here?
Check out O'reillys for the deal I am talking about but do not tell them what I just said.

The most common side-effect of a bad optipark is an ignition misfire. You could have hard starting, stumbling, sputtering, loss of power, jerky idle/lunging, or a rich running engine (to name a few). Totally killing the engine isn't as common, unless the owner just ignored one of these symptoms and ran the car into the ground. For your sake, I hope a bad opti is all that's wrong with the engine, because you're taking the owners ahem "professional" opinion on that one, and betting thousands of dollars on it.

+1 on Camaro69. Without getting the car to atleast start, there is no telling what could be wrong. Fuel pump, ignition, ECM, major mechanical problem in the short block, etc, etc, etc.
Best of luck to you that it is only the opti.
PS - Always a big red flag to me when they mispell Camaro...........

Did you get all six bolts? There are three on each side.
Once you get all six bolts out, the drive shaft may possibly be stuck. Give it a good shot of penetrating oil and let it sit for a while. Then try to pull it straight off the front.
