thats the funny part, everthing is new!

i have had it run great for a week before and then it will hesitate when you take off or die and then be almost impossible to restart. Then the next day start right up and then you shift it into gear (auto) and it dies or almost dies. It burs rich and the it acts like it has no fuel when you start it so you have to floor it. runs great at high rpm, if you an get it there.

intermittent problems suck!

the only original part that i can think of is the throttle body and the spray of the injectors seems fine. Do you think it would need a chip for the computer? some one said that maybe the o2 sensors dont get hot enough with long tube headers but i dont know what the symptoms of that are.

if u have a distribitor the ignition modual is in it. under the rotor. i try to carry a spare with any car or boat i have. the other would be the maf/map whichever u have. check the connection to all three dist, maf/map, and ignition modual.

also it surges off an on, in drive and in park.

we just replaced ignition module and it made no difference.

My opti is still in good shape, would it extend the life span at all if I just changed the cap and rotor? Or do you have to change the whole distributer?

alright u guys this is the third thread on this thread. u need to start another to get a better response. if im going to take the time and hassle to get to the opti i would change the whole thing. if ur opti is good leave it. it does help to seal the cap with high temp rvt when replacing the opti. from what ive read only on a rare occurrance has replacing the cap and rotor done any good.

Default somewhat of same prob on 98 RS

My 98 camaro had somewhat the same prob a month or so back. It would be running fine and all of a sudden (moving or at idle) she would start sputtering and gave me no acceleration. I would pull of and let her cool down and would go fine from there. Happened once after about 10 min of driving and once after a half hour or so. So not sure if over heating. Happened 3 or 4 more times and brought her in. After new spark plugs and wires no problems again.
Check engine light would come on when prob was occuring but went off when it was fine

This is getting entertaining, like being at a circus to see how many clowns can cram into a small car.
Just how many threads within a thread can we fit here? Really, if you guys want help with a problem, start a new thread so that it gets recognized.
And, I'm not touching this one with a ten-foot pole...
