Default Tail light differences?

Hi all,

Are there any differences between the 1996 tail lights and the 1997?

I need to replace mine with the export/tri colour type to get my Camaro registered here in the UK. Found a set on e-bay that will fit the 1997 but not sure they'll fit my 1996.

Thanks.

97 and up have the amber lenses. Physically they fit, I put those type on my old 96. The sockets are different between them though, some of the tabs are different sizes and/or in different clocking positions. All I did was "customize" the openings in the housings with a utility knife to accept the sockets on the car. Others have done it the hard way and changed out the harness, which did come with the lights I had bought, but it's still sitting in my garage collecting dust.

Thanks bud. A few adjustments can be done easy as I work in a garage. My plan is to pass the test using the export lights and fit the originals back after it has passed.
