Default swapping trans, 94z and 96z???

So im looking at picking up a 96z28 with some engine work done to it, it has a stock trans, the trans on my 94 z28 has some work done to it and is fairly fresh. Can I just swap the transmissions from the 1994 and the 1996 (mind you i am working with a floor jack and jack stands, not a lift or anything, andthey are both autos. I know from experience that i can swap 4 speeds in my 1972 camaro in about 30 minutes, im guessing that this will be a bit more difficult, true? Also wondering abouthow much the auto trans in these cars weighs, i know my m22 is nice and light

The 4L60E is a tad hefty but can be muscled around. It's a little more complicated, making sure all of the connectors, cables, and plugs are all disconnected and reconnected as they're supposed to be. Torque converter bolts might not be the most fun of all things, especially if you're attempting this under the car. It's possible, however. Good luck with it.

But yes, as far as your original question, those transmissions are identical.

Just be careful. Make sure everything is supported. As I said, the transmission is hefty but managable.

I would get ahold of a transmission jack so you don't crush yourself on accident. $50 for a cheap tranny jack seems a helluva lot cheaper than face crushing would be...

It's not going to be easy without a lift, but it will be doable. The tranny isn't that tall, but I'm sure you'll run into some interesting stumbling blocks
