yeah... 357 smallblock... whats wrong with that? The money i had left over woulda gone into the engine... around 2000 for the engine and 3000 for the car.

I found an LTI with Transmission (Pulled out of a 95 Corvette [I believe]) and was wondering if it would be worth the money saved, to swap that engine and transmission into my V6 1994 Camaro.

The average cost of a Z28 around here is about $8-9,000 for a decent one, I am only getting around $6,000 from an insurance claim. The transmission and engine cost around $2,500. Would it be worth it?

Thanks for the Help.
Your better off selling your current car and buying a V8. Not only will it be a ***** to swap out but you'll need to change your wiring harness and the computer. It'a pain and is not worth all of the trouble. You may end up spending just as much for the swap as you would just buying a v8 Camaro.

I keep reading how its such a nightmare to put a V8 intoa V6 Camaro.. are you guys refering to the swap itself being such a pain? Because I've pulled and replaced more engines than I can count on both hands in my life and its really not that difficult. I changed the motor in my old 82 Camaro by myself with no help from anyone.. now that was a pain and I wouldnt wanna do it again. But I'm gonna pull the V6 out of my 99 and replace it with a V8.... I just wanna know this, if I go with a LS1 what problems am I gonna run into once I get the motor in, I'm talking about electrical problems. I plan to get the complete wiring harness and computer with the LS1 if I go that route and dont change my mind and decide to justgo with acarbarated crate motor.I'm starting to think noone here has ever done this swap because its easier to go out and buy a car with a V8.. but in my opinion, thats not what hotrodding is all about. Has anyone here ever done this? Because I'm sure not gonna take advice from a fat guy on how to lose weight.

ok wait isn't there a law about how you can't put a carbed engine in a "came from the factory as a fuel injected" car. That is what i was told but you know how things get changed when they get passed around. Ohh and hypethetically, what if i wanted to swap a ls in my car that has an lt would i have to change the computer? or would i just have to reprogram it? Or do anything at all?
