I'm new to this forum so forgive me if this question has been discussed recently. Does anyone have any ideas why my steering is whining? The pump is full of fluid and I don't see any leaks. My car was a garage kept part time driver until my X got my daily driver so I had to drive it 70 highway miles a day to work and back for a few years and it now has 165,000 miles on it but it's running strong. 2000 Camaro SS

could be your pump or your hose kinked mabey ,check the hose to pump to ,whine sounds like not enough steering fluid getting there ,or your serpentine belt could be loose or need replaceing

I'll check it out. Rockauto.com has a remanufactured ACDelco pump for under $50.00. My thinking is when I need to replace a part I should try and use high performance parts. It might not be the smartest option but seems like the right one. Does anyone else think like that?

stock pump is fine ,yes I tend to but with power steering ,mine is stock works fine but turns opposite of the old lt1 ,i would say when it comes to suspention parts yes ,shocks struts yes might as well upgrade ,but near anything else stock should be fine AC delco makes good parts
