Steering Replacement

Well in my case, it probably wouldnt be a bad idea to change it since the motor and trans are still out of the car.

If I remember right the hose are more of a bear then the rack itself. 30 year old rack, Those outer seals may not have much longer. Also if the pump fails and sends metal through the rack that can cause issues. With all that room I would be tempted to add a filter to the high pressure side while it is all a part.

Probably not a bad idea. I'll be picking up the engine this week so I'll see where we'll go from there,

I was replacing my ps pump every few years. I added an oil cooler to my steering system haven't had and issue with the pump yet. been a over 5 years.

Where did you put the cooler at? 4 gens are not known for their spacious engine compartment.

under the radiator support behind the front air dam its not very big.

I have a trans fluid cooler in front of radiator or I would have put it there. make sure you're on the return line if you do it.

I'm going to look into this once I get this car on the road. Still got a ways to go before I can even think about this, but you have given me some ideas.
