Default Steer me towards a good kitty...

I'm researching exhaust for my car... and now I'm looking at what kind of cat to get. My car has 118000 miles on it... and the exhaust guy says that my cat is probably gonna be toast soon. Is that true? Well it doesn't really matter because I want to get a high flow cat on there instead of leaving the stock one on.

The exhaust shop guy says that I need a cat that is good for the California emissions laws (I live in Arizona) Is that true? I've never heard of that before and why would that matter if I live somewhere else?

I have an 01 V6... I'm looking for a cheap(er) high flow cat. Any suggestions? Thanks

If you want a good highflow cat look at a Random Technology or a Magnaflow highflow cat. As far as emissions, all you have to do is stay legal in your area (technically you need to have the same emissions the car had from the factory, which would be Cali legal...but most people choose to ignore that rule). All of that said, your stock cat (unless it's clogged) probably isn't going to rob that much power, especially since the same unit is on the V8 cars which have much higher exhaust flow. If you have to replace it, go with the brands above, personally I wouldn't touch it if I didn't have to.
