Default Starter motor advice

Hi Everyone, I have a 1994 3.4L auto camaro, I am in Australia and can't get parts locally. The starter motor in the car was incorrect and was only meshing on the very edge of the flexplate - I ordered a new one from rockauto and they do not distinguish between any variants in the model, so by my understanding there is only one type of starter motor, however the new one has the same problem - when it throws out only the last 1/8th of an inch reaches the flexplate, and the gear on this one is smaller than the gear on the other (also wrong) starter motor. Can anyone shed some light for me?

that is a tough one ebay usa $42.00 part # 900073-6442 seems to fit both the 3,4l an 5.7l .could be wrong on this .the 3.4l is geting harder to find some parts ,not the starter ,but i would wonder if they are the same ,try ebay though under 94 camaro 3.4l say that part# fits that an the lt1 as well as the caprice with lt1 for that year,

i allways had bad luck with rock auto .like that they did not have the part ,an there lay out hard to move around there site.somone else should be able to confirm if there the same or not

looked at couple sellers there an seem they fit many Gm cars from 94 an 95 roadmaster impala camaro 3.4l

Are there shim(s) installed? Is the flywheel worn? If your too loose and there are no shims Flywheel could be shoot.
