Default Squeeling noise on start up

I just traded my 97 Monte Carlo LS for a 96 Camaro RS convertible. It has a 3800 V6 engine and a few problems with it.

When I turn the engine over I hear (what sounds like) a large burst of air and a harsh noise. I can slightly hear a chain rattling as the car idles. Yet, the car accelerates perfectly fine.

I have a feeling that it is going to need a new t belt or chain.

Also, when the car is running I can feel a rattling, like something is rumbling around in the intake on the right side of the engine (when you're facing the front of the car). Any ideas on what I should do to fix this?

can you make a recording of it. hard to say on your decription. have the computer scanned for trouble codes at your local parts store and write down the codes and post them here. may give us a idea of where to start. i the meantime what is the oil pressure, volts, fuel pressure

I'm starting to think either it is a normal noise in the car start up. You hear air escape from the hole in the engine and exhaust. but you hear a small grinding noise which might mean that the starter is going bad.

As far as codes, the check engine light is off so I doubt it will read out anything. (I don't personally own a computer)

stop by your local parts store and ask if they will scann your car. most will. it could be starter. if it is grinding on the flywheel it can ruin it and cost way more than just a starter. can you locate where the noise is coming from, top or bottom of motor, diver or passenger side?

What "hole" would that be? If it's one that a rod made in the side of the block, that would be bad!

It comes front the drivers side. when you're facing the engine its to the right and back a little bit. Slightly down but not all the way to the bottom.

Like an open vacuum port you mean? I think a picture might help.

Alright here is what I think the problem is.

I took apart the air intake system because I feel a rattling coming from it. I can here a rattling coming from the intake manifold.

When I took off the intake system and disconnected the throttle body the gasket fell off and gas came out of one of the bottom holes on the intake manifold.

Is this normal??

could be vacumn or exhaust leak, lose or missing spark plug.
