Default Spark Plug Heat Shields

Found out my heat shields are gone on my V6, Is it worth getting new ones, Should I get them for all six or just the ones close to the manifolds?

It's just a small piece of plastic that wraps around the wire, sort of like with your electrical wiring. It's there to prevent the rubber on your wires from melting when the engine gets hot. I would replace them because they should be cheap and it could extend the life of your plug wires.

I could have sworn I had metal covers on, the one melted on the passenger side may buy a couple and put them on. Just curious if anyone else has metal ones.

My car is a 3.8L

LT1 V8's had 90 deg metal sparkplug shields. I boiught a set to use on my plugs when I installed headers. They do work.

I have them, and they are metal, but removed them when a GM shop tech recommended removing them due to issues (forgot the specifics now, but posted the reason on this forum about a year ago).

Since removal (over a year now), I have had no melting issues with the MSD 8.5mm wires that went on with Denso plugs at the time.
