Where you are at is a big part of insurance. I got a 15% increase when I moved 30 miles to the east into Allentown. If I moved 30 miles to the south I know I would get another 50% increase cause that would be concidered Philly. Also high risk cars and high risk drivers are a bad combination. 16-25 not married, no kids and no house= High risk.
This was a big reason to buy a base model Camaro and mod it. You buy a Z28 and you pay Z28 insurance. My V6 Camaro cost me less for liabilty then 94 Olds. In PA when you insure a car the insurance company assumes any driver in the house will drive it. I will most likely wait to insure my Z28 till after my daughter moves out. If I don;t wait it will more then double my rate. I was paying 1200 per year for 3 cars. Once my daughter started driving it went to $2700 for 4 cars.

so even when im rollin the v8 in the camaro mines still considered a 3.8L and thats what the insurance companies should be told eh? i havent insured the car yet cuz 1) its not drivable as it sits and 2) im 160 miles away from it..
the only thing that worries me is that if i ever get pulled over and the cop wants to "check things out" i could be royally F worded.. my only hope of it being able to be street legal is if i can get collector plates to dodge e-check... or make it anothre boring LT1 car...

My rates are based on where I live, the fact that I don't commute in it (I simply drive it to drive around), and I drive less than 8000 miles per year between all three vehicles.
