Default So ugh, these spark plugs...

Are a ******* pain in to reach. I'm working on my base 3.4 V6 model. Is there an easier way to do this? As in something I can temporarily remove to make more room for my hands and tools? I can barely get the boots off let alone make sure my plugs are all the way snug. This can't be this complicated...

you should be able to get at them with a long enough extension and a ratchet. The boots can be a bit of a pain if you don't have pliers to grab the boot with, try to twist them to break loose the grip they have on the plug, make sure you don't pull on the wires if you are re-using them...only pull on the boot. If your socket seems like it wont fit on the plugs its most likely due to rust...rust remover and about 5-10 minutes will solve that problem.

The socket is actually too small, by the time I get it to sit correctly on the plug the extension doesn't have the proper room to connect into the end of the socket because the end of the plug just barely comes through the opening. I managed to get by with a swivel socket and the extension. Then just hand tightened them as best as I could.

lol, yep it helps allot to have a long handle swivel head rachet. some are way easier from the bottom.

sounds like a pain, mine was pretty straight forward, 1 deep socket, 2 extensions (3in each) a socket wrench and rust remover. it always takes longer when you do something for the first time. good to hear you got it taken care of.

Use a spark plug socket that has a hex on the end. Then you can put a box or open end wrench on the socket where a ratchet won't clear.

Thanks guys! I got them all out and changed. My first post here was about a loss of power and acceleration, I finally restored it! Turns out, a couple of my plug wires were in pretty bad shape. I had taken it to a buddy of mine's shop who "supposedly" changed my wires, when in reality I don't think he did. Anyway, long story short, I learned not to over look the obvious and found that my wires needed replaced.

I want to buy a nice performance set of wires, I was looking at Buy JBA Performance Exhaust Ignition Wire Set W06349 at Advance Auto Parts

What are your opinions? Is there another brand that I should consider?
