Can you smell it in the exhaust? check all smaller lines (i.e. heater hose lines for small cracks). You will see a yellowish dried up residue on hoses that may have very small tears, which will eventually burst.

It might be so small a leak you won't notice the level going away. I know on my car, the t-stat housing was leaking ever so slightly. Couldn't see any puddles, because it would evaporate off once coming into contact with the hot engine. Only way I found it, was while inspecting, every so often you could see a wisp of steam coming from that location. Just enough to give a smell of antifreeze.

A similar issue here, only that right at 180 deg I would get a waft of sweet smell inside the car then it would dissipate. looped to by-pass the heater core and still the same situation. 98 3.8l (p.s. is there a weep hole for this type of water pump?)
