Default SLP intake issues

My 02 camaro ss has an SLP intake on it. The one bracket that holds the lid down always comes off. Now my question is that every once and a while my car will start to missfire and run very rough. It seems to me like the car is getting way to much fuel and my one fuel trim shoots up really high. Could this be a result of the intake leaking or do I have to continue searching for the problem? Thanks,

Did you ensure that the lid tucks inside the base in the front -- a common issue many over look, then the latches will hold properly...

Are you not getting an engine light? If the system is running properly, the intake issue shouldn't cause you to get more gas, the mixture should adjust

Default SLP intake issue

My 2001 Camaro SS developed the same problem - could not figure it out. Intermittent misfire, rough running and idle. (No engine light warning or codes). This went on for days -sometimes all was well for weeks, then it appeared again. Did feel like fuel issue.

Checked everything from Injectors to intake sensors etc but not the obvious!

# 3 cylinder plug boot was not on properly - you cannot tell by looking at it, but when tugged on it the wire came off into my hand. Some silicone and making sure that plug boot is securely engaged and the issue went away. Check the plug wires, you never know..

Have you done any maintenance to it recently? Or did it just happen randomly?

How long has it been since you have done a tune up?

i dont see how a lose air filter could cause one side to run rich. it should effect both sides if it did and i dont see how or why it would. i would look for exhaust leak, fouled or failing 02 sensors, failing fuel injector, bad plug or plug wire. good start would be plugs, plug wires and fuel filter.

I am still having the problem. It all started when i got my header gasket replaced because it blew out. Now i have had my plugs and wires checked and they seem fine. The car will only do this if i am on the highway for atleast an hour, and then my fuel trim will shoot up on the drivers side and it sucks fuel like crazy. New o2 sensors are on the way and i will see if it fixes it. The rough idle seems to have gone away when i cleaned the maf sensor and ensured that the slp lid was secured down. Now it is just the fuel issue. Usually i dont get an engine light, but when i hook my reader up it will still show my sensor low voltage on the front drivers side.

Definitely sounds like an o2 sensor died out. Replace the sensor, reset the codes and run it for about 50 or so miles and check it again and go from there.

Okay so i replaced my o2 sensors and things r definately better. Fuel trims are staying pretty much where they should. But it still seems to have a very slight rough idle, not a lot but just enough to feel it. I thought that the car ran completely smooth but i donno maybe this is normal ha.
