Default Slow Windows

The power windows on my '94 Z28 go up and down much slower than most cars, and they're even slower if I use them both at the same time. Is this a common problem and can it be fixed?

Default Slow power windows.

Generally when the power windows in these cars start moving slowly it means the window motors are most likely going bad. The only fix I know of is to replace the window motors. I wish I could have given you better news. But if you think of how many times since 1994 or so they have cycled up and down, I'd say not too bad for wear.

The motors aren't very expensive, from what I was told go for OEM and not a cheap aftermarket. Replacing the motors isn't too difficult either, check out this link, it helped me out big time when I replaced my window motor a few weeks back. http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html

Autotrix also makes a kit for the passenger window that will give it full voltage. It will help your motors last longer.

Thanks for the info everyone. I figured that it would take fixing the motors. I've replaced one of the motors in a Yukon so i have a basic idea. And thanks to montecarlogrrl for the link. I have a feeling that may come in handy

another thing to look for is to make sure the spring on the window regulator is tight... I just changed the motor on my passenger window a few days ago and the spring popped off the regulator. I talked to my mechanic and he says those springs come on the regulator from the factory pretty darn tight. The springs help lift the window back up. So when i put the windows down they work fine, but when i put them up, the passenger window goes a bit slower. I could fix it... but not worth my time. it works, the motor might just not last as long.

I hadn't thought about that but I have a feeling it is the motors because its just about as slow going down as it is going up.

My 95,98 z28, and current 99z28 all had slow windows. It's pretty common due to the size I guess.
