Should I make homemade wood car ramps then.
I have a 1994 Chevy Camaro V6 3.4L Car. I found these links for homemade wood car ramps then. I like these better then buying ones because these wont slide when a person tries to drive on them and the car looks like It wont roll off them with the car In park along with the e brake on. I cant decide between the two links one of them has four levels the other link has three levels. My car has stock height so I should clear both of the homemade ramps without any problems. I think I should build the bigger one because why not have a extra level but let me know what you think.

If you had the spare wood around then sure, but I agree with Craby that they wouldn't be that useful for major work besides checking things and fluid change. I wouldn't feel as good about trying to put my car up on slim lumber compared to steel ramps with higher lift. You can find steel ramps for decent prices under $40.
I kinda was thinking about making these because my car might not be able to clear steel ramps and I heard they slide when trying to drive on them but I also heard that the car will be less likely to fall off the wood then the steel ramps but Im not saying It would fall off the ramps Im Just saying the woods seems more durable. But I would mainly be checking things out or changing the oil etc. But are ya suggesting I get metal ones Instead. Or what lol then.
I have an old set of steel ramps in my garage that I use, sit high enough for most of the work I've done or am planning to do I have enough room. The sides of the ramps have a lip and so does the top area on both sides of the ramp. The car won't roll off while sitting on top of these ramps with the lips they have. That and I also put the car in gear and a concrete block behind the rear tire for extra piece of mind. They don't really slide, you edge up slowly until you hit the ramp and slowly drive up. They may move if you hit them hard, but so will the wood. I just wouldn't feel safe underneath working on the car and shaking it a little on wood ramps with no edge lip, seems easier for the wood to kick out rather then your car to come off steel ramps with high lips.
I have an M6 lol you have to put it in gear. The ebrake/parking brake needs adjusted on mine and doesn't hold well. It won't roll while in gear.
All the steel ramps I've seen have lips on the edges, its only a 1-2 inch lip but that's all you need. Simple ramps like this is all you need.
