Should I buy this Camaro SS?
Hey folks,
new here to the forums and I'm thinking about buying a 2000 Camaro SS convertible.
I went to check it out and here's what I found;
The owner removed the catalyst converter and when I started car the exhaust smells like gas. Note that I live in California. My question is though, doesn't removing the catalyst make the check engine light go on?
I noticed that the light didn't come on but that's cause the lady disconnects the battery.

the check engine light still should come on sooner or later and its catalytic converter. did you have a look under it? id guess the rear 02s are probly gone. the car will not pass inspection as is and thats most likely why its for sale. so whats the price?

But anyway, if you don't mind the light and the possible ticket associated with the lack of a cat, then go for it.

As Craby asked, "what's the price"?
I don't have any experience with them, but I suppose it's possible this vehicle is running an O2 sim to prevent the light from coming on. But, I would suspect that the current owner has done nothing more than ignore the light by constantly disconnecting the battery.

this is the car.
The car does sound nice...sounds like it's has cams...
The car sounds like this...that's what I'm still considering it.
