Good day all,

I was hoping I could get a bit of assistance with a problem that, well, I can't figure it out for the life of me. I have a 96' Z28 in which I recently took out of storage. Before traveling I did an almost complete once over of the entire car. New water pump, timing belt, distributor, new plugs & wires, new radiator, new fuel pump regulator. Really, I combed through the car.

When I was done, she ran flawlessly, except for a small oil leak I could not find. So I took her to the shop, they told me the the intake manifold had a very small leak. So I said, sure, fix it.

When they were done it ran terribly. I would have kept it with them, but I was on a time crunch. So I took it back my garage and noticed they swapped the injectors and that is why I was getting a misfire. However, the problem I keep getting is the P0336 code, or the crank shaft position sensor.

First thing I did, replace the sensor. Why not? The car is almost 20 years old. Still get the code after a new part replacement.

Here is the odd part. The SES code only illuminates on start up. I can clear the code and drive it for 300 miles and it WILL NOT TURN BACK ON. However once you stop, even for 5 seconds, turn the car back over, then it illuminates again.

I went through everything again. All my wires leading up to the CSP are fine, I can't see anything wrong with them. My distributor is brand new, so I don't see that as an issue. I hook it up to my computer and not one single misfire ever.

Thanks. We actually just took a look at the ring last night, last ditch effort sort of thing. It's fine. Teeth look great, I see no issues at the moment. We are leaning back towards the distributor.
