Default Serpentine / main drive belt

Hi all,

i'm gonna get a new belt for my main drive (LS1 engine) while i'm over in states. I got part numbers for 2 from autozone which is a few miles from where my hotel is.

Anyways, Whats the best you've used,

I can either get the DAYCO belt with the 'w' shape part no 5060790 at auto zone
OR the DURALAST normal V belt type part no 790K6

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par.../N-jd4wyZ93xm5

any experience with these?

Oh Yeah , and what do you guys think to getting a 160 F stat (DURALAST) brand also?

***** duralast. Everything that i have bought from them has been nothing less than garbage. They are usually cheaper but way worse in quality. Ive bought many sensors bad out the box, tailights that burnt out way too quick, and light sockets that always cause problems like shortages. I wouldn't trust a funnel from duralast.

^ Second this, I'd get something better. To put it in perspective, I get a 20% discount there and I won't buy anything AZ/Duralast.

As far as the belts, I hear that Napa belts are good quality. Haven't tried them out yet though, it's been too cold to work on the car.

Try and find the goodyear gatorbacks for the belt. I have had one for almost 40,000 miles. Do a quick search, nothing but good reviews. I got mine from autozone.

yeah napa makes a good part. Napa is a big step up from 'supermarket' part stores like Autochode, advanced auto, oriellys, pep boys, etc

Well while i do agree that napa is great its not much better than oreillys. They usually carry the same brands and warrantys but for alot less. Napa just usually carries more parts.

I second or third the ***** Duralast. And i say this not because I am a counterman at O'reilly's. Dayco is OK, Gates is better and my fav is the Goodyear Gatorback belts. I really miss them. Advance Auto I think still sells them, Gates can be had at NAPA and O'Reilly. I dont know about in your area Carnage but here in the Tacoma area the Napa stores usualy dont have much in stock for the general consumer but they stock alot for medium and heavy trucks. Autozone has a decient supply but the parts are junk, O'reilly took over CSK stores, and for the most part the stuff has improved. We still have a couple of small guys around here that pretty much sell the same stuff eveyone else does but their selection is not as good.

I'm sold on the Gatorbacks. They're advertised as noise free, and every one I've ever had has lived up to that reputation. My local AutoZone carries them.

We have napa, autozone, kragens/oreillys, and pep boys all on the same street. Most carry the same brands and then their own. All have different prices and stock up more on certain things. For instance kragens carries more exterior, autozone fluids and pep boys bolts. Napa usually has any part you can imagine but usually cost more.
