and the electrical there is under the car where the driverside backseat is its the bottom plug youll know what im talking about when you see it




this is the electrical to the pump unplug this and the 2 black lines behind theres prob gas in them


now pop this thing off


and bust this open


inside youll find the pump as for the bendy straw looking gas line just cut it youll get a new one and its impossible to get it off the old pump

 

o man i cant imagine, the axle is a PITA to pull.. but ok so im gonna assume that the reason the trunk is SO small is because right behind the back seat is the gas tank? and cut from the top right below where the top rests right? beacause i have a bad sending unit so i have to fill up every 200mi to be safe.. i ran out once because i went to 250 which is what the previous owner told me it needed to be filled at and of course my gas gauge says F so its no help haha

 

the axle wasnt too bad just long and tedious the worst part was putting the tank back in the filler doesnt come off and doesnt seem to fit thru this little triangle in the fender

no, freakin, way. when you first uploaded the pix they didnt come up. now that i see them i cannot believe how easy it is to take that thing out!

 

youll be ok drilling a hole no fire or anything like that (i used to scrap cars and they required all fluids be drained) just drill at an angle so the drill doesnt get covered in gas and have a friend ready to plug the hole so you can change containers

 

just syphon the fuel out if you want it out. i dont see a reason to take fuel out if your doin the hatch.

 

A tank *full* of gas is less dangerous than an empty tank. It's the *vapors* that are explosive, not the liquid.
Take an empty soup can and fill it with gas. Drop a lit match into it. 9 times out of 10 the match will go out. If the gas does light off it will burn like a big smoky candle. You can put the fire out by placing your gloved hand over the can, sealing the top. Just don't knock the can over -- things would get ugly in a heartbeat.
Real life isn't like the movies -- cars don't blow up when the wheels leave the ground or the car goes over a cliff. LOL

So, no offense to Basic, but I'd def skip the step of drilling a hole in my gas tank.

 

Never do this. Assuming you survive the process (really, raw gas running over a turn drill bit and a drill?) the only accepted way to seal a large hole in a tank is to weld it. As an inspection mechainc I would fail any other type of repair.

 

yeah do not drill a hole in your tank. It does not matter how much gas you have in the tank if your doing the hatch mod.. Just leave it be, cut the hatch, change the pump.
