You don't says what year and model of car you own, so I'm assuming it's a mid 90's Camaro. I've attached a picture from the 1996 Camaro owners manual that describes how the Pass Key system functions. If the suggestions mentioned on this page don't turn off the light, you may have the beginning of a VATS problem and will either to by pass the resistive chip in the key or have the key switch replaced.
