The Y87 package had little to do with the acutal diff. It basicly gave a V6 the same swaybars as a Z28 and stiffer springs for better handling. If you had optional Disk brakes you got them. On 98+ cars disks were standard so that was no longer part of the package. What you didnt get in the 93-97 cars was the Z28 front brakes which were better than the V6 brakes. In 98-02 the front suspension and brakes was the same from a V6 to a V8.

If you want better brakes and dont want to spend a fortune then get the spindles off a 98+ and use the 2 piston brakes that they came with. The V6 and V8 suspensions were the same in those years.

Welp, I got the camaro finally back in the yard and pick up the used rear end for $125. Buddy is coming over tomorrow morning to swap them out. Weather is suppose to hit 50 tomorrow, warmest it has been here since NYE. Things are falling into place. I'll replace my headlights and my turn signal lever while he is doingthe rear end.
BTW now that I brought up my headlights. One went out 3 weeks ago and the other went 2 weeks ago. Of course this happened during all those storms sao I hadn't gotten to it yet. But I'm curious I replaced both headlights with in a week of each other last year around this same time. Does this seem a little odd?
Thanks
and wish me luck for tomorrow. This guy is good. I just hope the rear end I bought works out.

That is good those are even cheaper at the wrecking yard and you can get a new one for about the price you paid for the wrecking yard diff. Are you sure it is the drive line and not just the Ujoints which are very cheap?

sebi, just not the way I wanted to let it go. Needed to last till summer, so I had the money to make a payment on a different car. But $1600 was just too much for me to swallow. I can handle the $500+ for the moment.
So all is good for the moment and once again camaro forums come thru again.
