Default Sarah's Story. My 99 Camaro build log.

OK guys I am finally doing some more mods to my car and I decided to make a one place for all instead of many threads. Here I am going to go back and show what has been done and what I am going to do to her.

I purchased a 99 Camaro with T-Tops for $500 last April. She appeared to have a blown engine but after a little cleaning we found a blown out oil filter gasket. New filter and 4 qts later she was up and running good. Here is a pic of her a few days after I brought her home and cleaned her up really nice.

About 3 weeks later some b**ch ran a stop sign and T-boned me. I had the car towed to the body shop I used to work at and an estimate was started. The owner stopped writing when the parts and labor hit $4000, since the car was clearly a total at that point. My insurance screwed me, she didnt have any nor did the owner of the car she was borrowing. I had to fork out the repairs from my own pocket. I ended up spending $1500 and about 30 or so hours putting the car back into like new shape. Here are a few more pics of the wreck.

This section will be short and sweet but I am going to post later on how to rewire the factory Monsoon amp to put a full range channel in the rear seat spaces and move the sub channel to the rear most location. I didn't take any pics of the mod so I am going to have to go back and take some of the finished product.

You all know what the stock stereo looks like so I didnt get any pics of that but here is the finished Kenwood install.

The little cubby below the deck is where I put my iPod when I have it hooked up.

P.S. stay tuned for the Wiring mod, I promise it is comming.

Well I found out what caused the oil filter to blow out back when I bought the car. As it turns out one of my local oil change places had a guy working there that had a bad habit of trying to get cars out so fast that he forgot to put oil in them. Well my car was one of those cars. it spun a bearing for the previous owner while in her driveway she was able to shut down quickly and avoid any major damage. When that same thing happened to me on the other hand I was driving down the road and could not shut down like she did. Needless to say a rod started knocking shortly after and I knew a new engine was in my future. At the time I did not post a engine change thread since Darling Reject was in the process of doing hers at the same time. Well I have a few cruddy cell phone pics showing the job.

Work getting started.

The new $500 engine still wearing its FWD equipment. This engine came out of a 2001 Bonneville that was lost to a cigarette fire in the interior.

Today I ordered my new rims and tires.

http://www.oewheelsllc.com/Wheels-fo...02364-3-1.html

I paid $875 shipped to my house through E-bay from this company. I should get them in about 2 weeks!! I also ordered today a shock tower brace from BMR, in black and it will be here in about 2 weeks as well. I am going to be taking pics and even doing a little write up on installing the brace when it gets here.

OK for Exterior mods, so far all I have done is added the new headlights from ANZO USA. I ordered them off E-bay, they were my Birthday presant from my loving wife. This mod went really well and I think it greatly improved the look of my car.

Future exterior mods I have planned are:
SS style stripes painted on.
17" Corvette C6 rims.
Painted calipers and rotors. (eventually some Wilwoods)
LED bulbs in all locations

LED bulbs are going to be HELLA expensive! And which color are you planning on for the stripes?

I work at an autopart store remember... can you say DISCOUNT! I can get them for about $8 per pair for the 3157A and 3157R and about $4 for a pair of 194s for the marker lights.

The stripes are going to be a dark gunmetal color. I am thinking of putting a ghosted pattern in them but I am not sure what I want to put there yet. I know what I want for the Z28, since my wife named the car Diamond we are going to do dark charcoal stripes with ghosted diamonds for her car. Mine not so sure yet. I want it to be simple but trick at the same time.

Massey I wanna wish you luck with the mods that you're going to put in the car. Im happy that you're taking the time and effort to make this thread happen. Think about me...post pics ;p. How much are you going to pay for the stripes I want to get the blue ones like the older vipers had.
