Default salt flat v6 build???

Alright, I'm back from bonneville speedway. Had a great time, loved it. So, I'm thinking about turning my v6 into a salt flat car. MAYBE. Jegs sells a 12 point roll cage kit that exceeds the scta requirements. I bought a rule book while I was there. I'd try for time-only passes, there's no way I'd attempt a record. The rules are complex, but not too difficult to fulfill. My uncle might be converting his drag truck into a salt truck. Gotta love the family racing spirit.

So if I did do this, I'd have to do a few fun things. Like exhaust for example. How about zoomy style headers that go out the hood, and straight up? No mufflers, nothing. Just open headers. Then the roll cage of course, fire extinguisher (sp?) system, yada yada. I wouldn't aim for a fast enough run to require a shoot, that's too much.

My camaro will be going into long-term-ish storage next month. I'm gonna drive the buick century in college, I don't want my baby in the sun or in a crowded parking lot. So on september 21st, it'll be put away until summer break next year. The bad thing about this is that I'm feeling like selling it, because it'll be sitting so long. But I might make it into a race car only, we'll see. A salt flat car would be nifty.

You just took a step in the "anti-salt flat" direction by installing new gears. You have to decide what you want to do, but in my opinion, there are a lot more drag strips around than salt flats...

That be the truth, but gears are easy and cheap to do. Just thinking is all
