so my camaro is running very rich and when I rev the motor, on release of the gas peddle, I get a slight backfire. Any advice?

Fuel mixture is controlled by the PCM in response to various sensors. What makes you think it is running rich?

Mines doing the same thing. All you smell is gas out of the exhaust. We have changed the PCM and it still smells. It didn't do it until we changed the distributor, plugs and wires.

Many times what appears to be a rich mixture is the result of misfire, where raw fuel is being dumped into the exhaust system. The PCM is seldom the cause of problems, but sensors and wiring are.

Neeed to do some diagnosing such as:
CEL lit or flashing?
Spark plug inspection
Fuel pressure test
Check injectors with NOID lamps and make sure they are pulsing and not staying on all the time (grounded control lead)
Check all sensor outputs with a scan tool and verify that they are telling the truth. The PCM cannot detect a sensor that is sending out garbage info.

SES Light is staying on
Spark plugs look great
NOID lamp are pulsing

I have checked every where for an ODB1 scanner and nobody here has one that don't want $80 to scan it!

Thank You for the help and info!!

if you plan on keeping the 94 it may be better to invest in a scanner that will work for you. 94 is an unusuall setup and not all obd1 scanners will work on it. check the 02 sensor connections and wires for damage, also take em out and see if there fouled. test your evap system including the gas cap, test your temp sensors. coolant and intake air. shbox is good check it out. http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech1.htm
i moved your thread to the 4th gen section. welcome to the forum, enjoy.
