RPMs fluctuate and then drop
Ok guys I got a problem. I did search this problem within the forums but it is kinda specific so I didn't find anything. Anyhow, sometimes when I take my car out of gear and am just coasting in neutral, the RPMs start to fluctuate up and down and then drop and the car can just shut off. It is sort of scary because I obviously lose power steering and power brakes and with icy and snowy roads that isn't a good combination. If I just revv the engine a little bit or put it back into gear it stops. It does not ever happen when I am sitting in neutral at a stoplight or anything though.
Got any ideas?

yup.
Oh you prolly want me to tell you... Chances are this is your EGR valve that is open. This is normal with digital EGR, the computer sees the vehicle speed and your engine RPMs are good to open the valve. You put it in neutral your engine spins down slow since there is no load and the valve stays open since the vehicle speed has not changed much. Now you have too much exhaust gas in the intake and that messes up an idling engine, this causes bad burns or misses and then death...
OK maybe not death but the engine dies till you release the clutch or restart the engine with the starter.

My car does something like this but it doesn't just fluctuate. When I take it out of gear to coast the rpms just go up, and then when I stop it tries to die. Would it be the same problem that TJ is having? EGR? If so, I am planning to delete it soon.
yup.
