Question Rpm problems

My 1995 3.4 Camaro is having some rpm problems. As soon as I start it up the rpm will go up by itself until it almost hits 3000rpm by itself and when I step on the gas it starts to choke and it turns off. Any ideas?

theres a T vac line fitting right at the front of the engine on top, check to see if thats damaged. if thats leaking it can cause the rpms to go way up.

Does that explain the choking?

That's because it would create a vacuum leak. Vacuum leak would explain your symptoms. Carefully spray some carb cleaner around the intake and vacuum lines to see if there is a change in rpms. If it does that's your problem.
