Some people would say yes, I personally don't think Royal Purple is worth the extra money you pay for it. Some of it is going to depend on your driving style, i.e. do you drive mostly city or highway, are you in the pedal a lot etc. I run Castrol GTX either 10W40 or 5W30 depending on the season. If you drive mostly on the highway I'd say that using a full synthetic(Valvoline is what I would use) would be to your benefit because you would be able to run it for more miles safely than you would a conventional oil. If you drive mostly city I'd stay don't waste your money on the synthetic.

What are you driving? A Z28? A v6? I use Penzoil full synthetic and it works fine for me.

I personally haven't used Royal Purple, but my brother used it one oil change on his 95 3.8. He had the Chevy dealer put in a new 3.8 and AT. Anyway, he said that it was no better than any of the other synthetic oils. He uses Mobil 1 on his Camaro, my dad uses Mobil 1 on his Vettes, and I use Mobil 1 on my Camaro. Its not really necesary for the V6, but I'd rather spend the few extra bucks while doing preventative maintenance on especially the engine, for higher quality stuff.

I have run royal purple in the TA for as long as i have had it. Just at 100K and no problem i drive around 300 to 400 miles a week and i can get about 5,000 out of it before she starts to need a oil change. I also run a K&N fillter. I can say that when i changed over to rolay and to the K&N i did see some extra oil pressure about 4 PSI more than before. The oil that was in the car was clean when i changed it to. I run 10W30 at the car is not only gets alot of high way use put has seen alot of track time as well.

Yeah I watch that show also. (pisses my girlfriend off!) And not to long ago they did a test of running regular oil in a Camaro, 98 I think, and they changed all the oil from the motor, trans and rear and they dynoed the car and got 9hp from doing that. Don't know if your going to see a differnence or not.
