It was a good trip beautiful day and I bought a jensen vm9510 for only $80 so yesterday was a good day
third mark is not overheating and is about the time the fans should come on. has it boiled over?

these cars stock run at 190 to 210 but some run cooler,,, at least mine does. i usually hang in the 180 to 190 range but i am running a 180 thermostat and it seems to work with the system good. fans dont come on unless it gets up just above the center mark which is not very often. when its hot i have the ac on so the fan comes on for that and it stays in the 180 to 190 except in heavy traffic.

I think no. In all honesty you should learn the car you have now, and learn as much as you can before even thinking of getting into an older project like a 76 vette.
