I just purchased oem speakers for my 2001 with the Monsoon system. Here was the breakdown...the front door speakers were $40 each, the middle ones were $60 each and the back ones were $80 each. That was from the Chevy dealer.

 

that doesnt seem so bad, as long as they are stronger thant he originals and wont blow too easily

 

13 years later....have we figured out a good replacement for the main monsoon speakers? I need to replace the front speakers and they are special. Is there a good replacement I can get now that will not distort the original sound? I have been trying to find used but nobody has good used ones as the car is now 21 years old and a lot of the "scrap" cars are destroyed and recycled, thanks Fed Gov. Thanks for reading and I hope 13 years later we found something that is OE and up to par to the originals.

You can replace a few speakers at a time then add amps and subwoofers. At least you wont break the bank that way and you'll be happy. I used 2 different speakers and used polk momos in the rear with the directional put by my ear. While these polks were technically for the front they sounded badass used in the back. Jl audio are speakers I will always love. They make great subwoofers. And the front you can use infinity or Boston pros or other comparable high end speakers, once you add your amp, you will notice the quality. Also, try to add sound dampeners in the doors and floor. That helps keep your sound inside and road noise outside. Occarpets have good deals on dampening material.
