Replaced BCM, now wont start, and have security light
I had the classic relay clicking in my BCM so I got one for $10 at U Pull It. Installed ti,was happy, etc., then went to start the car.... No dice and security light is on. Is there a "mate" process to changing the BCM?

The bcm can only mate with one key. The only way you can use a used BCM is to have the key that came with it, or a least know the value of the resistor pellet. The BCM mates with the first key it sees and will not mate with a different one. In other words, the BCM mates with the key, the key does not mate with the BCM.

There are 15 different resistor values, 14 left to go now.
A locksmith can determine the value to match the BCM by using what's called an "interrogator", but they don't do it for free.

GM can flash the bcm to accept your old key but that will run you $300 plus the towing to get your car there. Do you still have your old bcm? If so look at my post on fixing them. It is simple and is a really common failure on these cars.
