Removing the intake
Hey,
I have an exaust leak at the manifold in the back where the headers are suppose to tighten down due to the fact that someone broke the two back bolts off. So i am taking the Intake Manifold out and the right valves and springs so i can remove the part and tap out the bolt. Does anyone know what i could do to clean the valves up or help make the car run better. It has 212,000 miles on it.

That's irrelevant to cleaning the valves. If you don't have access to a parts washer you could use some carb cleaner, let it sit for a little bit, and then a brush to scrub off what the cleaner takes off.

There are several methods to do this. I am sure it needs to be done with high miles and no knowledge of previous owners. Seafom works good for somethings, it is used when the motor is together and running, another option is draining all the oil, replace with ATF, run for 20 minutes, drain, replace with full synthetic. The detergents in the ATF will clean it all out really well and the synthetic will keep it clean.
Another option is to get some large 'c' clamps or other locking device (large enough to fit over the entire head) and some 2x4's. PLace the heads upright, place the wood on eather side of the heads and clamp them down enough to open the valves. Soak in carb cleaner (or another good cleaner) for a few days, rince with hot water, coat with a good rust preventative penetrating fluid and re-install.

Correct. As long as the engine is covered and dry it doesnt matter. Dont forget to replace the lost coolant and oil once you get them back on.
