Rear End Swap...

I have a 1997 Camaro RS (automatic) with the standard drum brakes. I found a donor car (1998 Camaro 5 speed) with disk brakes.
1. How hard is the swap?
2. Will a rear end from a standard be different in an automatic?
3. What parts to I need to keep or ensure I take from the donor?
Z. What is the average flight weight of a pigeon?
If anyone can help me answer these questions I would appreciate that tremendously. I would love to see some pics if anyone has any as well.
I only want to do this because I like the look of the disk brakes in the back and perhaps a little bit of performance would be nice.

The swap is not difficult as long as you have jack stands and know how to turn a wrench.
The 5-speed car has 3.23 gears. Yours has 2.73 gears (assuming it's stock). 3.23's will definitely give you some more kick. lol
I think the brake lines will be slightly different. Other than that, everything is interchangeable. So basically just the rear end and brake lines to be safe.

I plan on getting the brake lines from where ever they connect to the unibody. And I can turn a wrench, just wanted to upgrade what I got, I dont care if its positraction or not, just like the look of the rear disk brakes versus the drum.
I thought my car had the 3.23 gears, but if its the 2.73 then for sure that will be a nice upgrade. Will that do anything to my transmission? I think my 99 Camaro had 3.23 gears. How do you tell what you got?

There's a code in your glove box. And no the higher gear ration won't hurt your car or anything. What I would do if I were you is find a rear end out of a 6-speed z28. Then you'll have limited slip instead of an open differential and you'll get the disks and 3.42 gears.

Well the Hawaiian Islands are very limited on what options I have as far as parts cars go. This guy is asking 250 and he will help me get it out of his car, so I really cant complain. Plus this RS will only ever have a V6 in it. I would not waste my time putting in a V8 when I could just buy one all together and ready to roll, plus I have a 05 GTO sitting in storage back in Minnesota waiting for me. Its been really fun changing out the engine, bent cross-member, lowering the car 1.5 inches or so and getting the interior back together. So one more challenge (getting it legal) awaits and hopefully that will be it and she is all mine!

if they are both non traction control or traction control rearends (both same) it will be a easy switch, if you have non traction control and the reluctor in the center section on both it will not matter. dont remember when they switched places on mounting the option codes but they are either in the glove box, center console or the door jam. gu5 is a 323 gu2 is 273 g80 is posi trac

I didn't say put a v8 motor in your car. I said put the v8 rear end in your car. It's a WAY better rear end than any of the v6's had. v8's had 3.42 gears, disks, and limited slip.

I know you didn't say put a V8 in it, my brother said I should put a V8 in it and I told him its not worth it. I would love to put the V8 rear end in the car, but like i said they are hard to find around here. Lucky I found this car to get parts off of to make mine more complete.
