I'm seeing valentine 1's for about $360 used, $490s new.
Then, I'm seeing Escort 8500's for about $280's new.

Thoughts?
I really like the Valentine 1's ability to see cops behind you.

Sorry, I meant the 9500.

Question still there...
So, used Valentine 1 vs New Escort 8500 X50 ?
Also, the 9500's I was seeing was more like 560's...

Don't pay more than 500 for them. The Valentine doesn't block out signals that has been deemed to be false. IE; you drive pass the same market everyday and your radar starts to go off. The 9500 will allow you to block out that signal via its GPS system.

He's not going to be able to get a 9500 with what he wants to spend, so I think that's out. The Valentine is a little better then the Passport 8500 X50, but the X50 is still a very strong unit for a little less then the Valentine.

A expierenced cop can tell if your speeding just by looking at you while your driveing, and the new laser detectors can catch you from like 3000 feet so you best bet is to learn where they hide and just drive the speed limit there, save the sppeding for the back roads with more curves then a bucket of snakes

You do realize that cops can't pull you over cause they "think you were speeding' ? They have to clock you otherwise they have no proof that you were speeding regardless of what it looks like.

That's like searching all the Arabs at the airport just beca-oh wait....nevermind.
