Questions about the hatch
On our Camaro, I need to replace the rear hatch struts. My question is when you pop the hatch with the key or the button in the glove box, is there something other than the gas struts that should initially pop the trunk like a spring somewhere or should the struts do that. Just curious as to what all I will need to get if anything besides the struts.

Ours raises up a couple inches and then we lift it the rest of the way, the hatch struts hold it up with no problem. I;m not sure if they are suppose to raise the hatch all the way up or not. There is nothing other than the struts that lift it.

Ok, after reading my post, I wasnt quite clear.
I understand that it wont lift up automatically, but with mine, it doesn't even "pop" Have to turn the key and lift. So the struts should at least pop the hatch and inch or so? I was wondering if there was some kind of a spring somewhere.
Thanks for the replies!

I had that same problem with the hatch not "popping" up when my struts were shot - replacing the struts fixed the problem 100% - I had a guy that works at a shop buy them wholesale for me at the local Chevy dealer for about $40
Good Luck!
