Default Pull engine?

Do you have to pull the engine to add headers to a 96 z?

Nope. Jack it up high in the front, and you can even jack the rear up as well for a better angle.

should not have to but you can also loosen the k member and drop it a bit if needed, dont have to unhook much. allot depends on the manufacturer/style/shape.

Depends on the type of headers you're looking for. Do you want Long-tube? Mid? Shorties? If you're not sure, do a little bit of reading, and then just ask the all-knowing google to find some for you.

you'd use your lunch if you had to look at me. Oh, not those kind of pics.

it's really pretty straightforward to do the job and thus why is was descriptive

The most difficult thing is realizing that they call it "modification aka mods" for a reason

so the collector does in fact touch the drivers floor plan= if you don't like it, get a hammer and modify the floor pan from underneath

so the 3 inch cat back is difficult to get aligned and bolted onto the new y pipe= 6 foot pry bar and there you go.

But those are basics not specific to header installs

honestly, since it's such a pain in the butt to gain access the best advice is about the header gaskets. Don't go cheap and use what comes with the header and don't fall for "name brand" of Felpro.

You do not want to re-visit the job of the gasket thus why I strongly encourage Percy's. Sure they will cost you $30 or so but you would gladly pay $100-$200 to just make the exhaust leak go away after using the other brand of gasket.
