Pros and con's going carb on ltq
Thinking about going carb. Having motor built was told I could use first gen if I get my head redrilled for intake bolts, and block off water and distributor. But my question is what's pros/con's going carb? Will be race fuel car. Car going to be a street car I'm just concern about me fuel mileage, not an dd but do drive it thats about it

What are the reasons for going with a carb? Sure seems like a lot of work and money to go back to old tech.
Normally the only people that go back to carbs are people that just do not want to learn the computer stuff. You got guys running 7 second 1/4 miles on junk yard built motors with mostly factory used parts and they can run to the store for coffee in them. Try that with a Gen 1 small block with a carb on it.
When dyno tuning a carb it is all about give and take. These jets work good at 2500 RPMs but they lean out at 6500 RPM. Do you want to go fatter to get more total HP or do you want highway driving better. With EFI you don't have to settle. How the fuel mapping is at 2500 RPM can be completely different then at 6500 RPM. You can even have the mapping change depending on throttle position. You could say under 50% throttle run in "save gas" mode and over 50% run in ***** out mode.
