Default Programmer???

[align=left]I have a 2002 Camaro SS. 35th anniversary Edt. It has the following mods, SLP: lt headers, y-pipe, cats, lid, center-mount power flo exhaust, MAF, and bumper iduction. K&N: filter. I am wanting to use a programmer, as there is no place near me to get it dyno tuned. I am wanting something to boost performance, firm shifts, and clear DTC codes. What do you guys recommend? Also, is the SLP smooth bellow worth the $?And, about how much hp will I gain from a set of 8.5 super conductor MSD wires?

You will gain nothing by using the MSD wires, the smooth bellows is not really worth anything either. A programmer will give you much (in some cases you get less power), the only thing they are good for is clearing codes and adjusting the speedo after a gear swap. I do NOT advise using one to firm up shifts, all they do is overdrive the trans pump to give more lone pressure and I have seen this lead to trans failure. I am sure if you look hard enough you can find a place to give you a dyno tune, or you can suck it up and buy HP Tuners (a program for your laptop)for $500 and be able to tune the car anytime you want.

So programmers are virtually useless and can end up costing you more?

If you have a laptop computer, and you plan to make more mods to the Camaro...you also said that you want to tune the car yourself.... look into buying a cable http://www.akmcables.com. Then buy software http://www.carputing.com/it will open up all sorts of possibilities for you. Read the information though, the program allows for extensive tuning that can cause serious damage if you aren't sure what you are doing. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
