Power Window Charging Problem HELP!

Please read this carefully. I am trying to be as descriptive as possible. I just took my 95 Z28 out for a 100 mile drive and disaster struck. My charging system seems to have malfunctioned? The battery gauge on the dash moves but it is not up where it should be. The power windows will go down without the key in the ignition. Also, the windows will go down easy on both sides but do not have the power to go up (I have to assist them up)? I do not think that both the window motors lost it at the same time? I have not had to charge the battery to start the car which leads me to believe that there is no battery drain? Is my alternator bad? Do I have a wiring issue? Am I missing something? Please help

try replacing the window switch.the windows will go down if you took your key out of the ignition but did not open the doors.what is your voltage gauge reading ? try taking the car to your local parts stoe and have them test the battery and alternator

Hello Alih,
Thank you for your reply. The gauge cluster reads between 3 and 5 volts weather the car is started or not. The weird thing is that even at that low voltage the car will start up every time. The windows will go down with the doors open or closed with the key in the ignition or not. I am starting to lean towards the battery but I am also thinking the alternator because of the voltage gauge being so low. The door window thing I am not sure about? What do you think?

I agree with Alih, sounds like a bad ground. It's not uncommon for things to get shaken around and come loose. If it has an aftermarket deck installed I would probably start there, otherwise make sure everything seems to be wired correctly in the engine bay. There are a good amount of wires to check...have fun...[&:]
