Power steering whine
once again the man with the 4 bolt is correct. It's items like this that I just replace. It's not worth it to try and rebuild yourself unless you have a service lift and all the tools

Bleeding it is a thought, but after 500 miles you would think the air would have bled out well before that. A p.s. system is self bleeding, so all you have to do is turn the steering wheel left to right a few times, full lock to lock (with the engine running of course).
Yeah that's what I'm talking about. When I replaced my engine crossmember I had to take out the rack and pinion. My repair manual told me how to bleed it and this is basically what it said...
1. Fill the reservoir to the correct amount and let it sit for at least 2 minutes
2. Start the engine and run it for 2 or 3 seconds only and then check the reservoir and add fluid as necessary.
3. Repeat those until the level remains constant.
4. Raise the vehicle so the wheels are off the ground.
5. Turn on the car and rev to 1500 RPM and turn the steering wheel from stop to stop and keep checking the fluid level.
6. Lower the car back down and while the engine is still on, drive forward enough to achieve full right lock and then full left lock. The reservoir will be foamy from this so let the engine stand a few minutes and then repeat the previous operations.
The book says that this may cure a noisy pump so give it a try... It wont hurt!
