Parts/tools needed for injector replacement
#12
My bf had said she's not running rich, more lean if anything, so I don't know if that makes any difference or not. I'm honestly not sure what's going on with the cylinders. My SES light will come on and go off at random times. It mainly comes on after driving to my bf's house, who lives an hour away from me (going about 45-50 mph at a fairly constant speed). Then it will go off when I'm just doing short runs around my area, which is more 'city' driving. We're going to work on the injectors this weekend and see if we can finally figure out if it's one of them or not. If not...I don't know what it could be. We already swapped the coils and it made no difference. New plugs and MSD wires were installed and although it helped smooth her out, I still get the SES coming on. On top of all of those misfire issues, I'm getting that 1870 code, so I have the TCC to worry about, too.
I'm getting really fed up with this car.

If one of the injectors is running lean, the oxy sensor on that side is going to pick it up, register a lean condition and richen up that bank. The one cylinder that is lean could then be ok, and the other two will be running richer. The opposite is also true if one injector is putting out too much, then that bank will get leaned out to compensate. One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch, or at least half of them.
