Default P0141 on 97 Z28

Ok, I have P0141 Bank 1 Sensor 2 error on my scan tool. I will check wiring etc first but if the O2 sensor has failed then I was wondering if I should just fit O2 eliminators. Cheaper and have read that sensor 2 only monitors the Cat performance and has no input to fuelling etc. Am I overlooking anything here. Thanks.

I just looked that code up on HPTuners, and it says Heater Performance Bank 1 Sensor 2. This means the heater is not working for that sensor. I'm not sure if the simulators work for that or not. You can use them for the "cat performance" sensors, but not the others.

If you replace the O2 sensor with an O2 sim it'll fix your code, although it's not like a new O2 sensor is that expensive. The heaters are usually the first thing to go on an O2 sensor.

Thanks for the replies. Read some more info that SIM's can still give you error codes as there canbe a mismatch between them and the front O2 sensor as the exhaust heats up. Think I will get a new sensor after checking the connections first.

Forgot to update this one. I cleared the codes out and reset the light back in Feb and the codes have not appeared again !!!. I did buy a couple of O2 sensors in case I got the error back but nothing so far. Thanks for the replies.
